Our Mission

 

Urban Potential is a non-profit ministry (501c3) devoted to helping economically disadvantaged residents of the greater New York City metropolitan area reach their full potential in Jesus Christ.  Assistance is provided to individuals regardless of religions belief, and there are never any charges for Urban Potential services.

 

 

 

Current Services

 

Adult Education Programs (Stand UP)  - unique and personal instruction in Adult Learn to Read, GED preparation, and High School Diploma completion.   Community seminars are also offered.  These programs allow students to "Stand UP" on their own two feet and reach their educational and vocational goals.

 

Job Readiness Program (Start UP) - a five-course program to help participants "Start UP" their job search.  Offered to domestic violence victims in city homeless shelters, or economically disadvantaged men and women at local community sites.

 

Support / Mentoring Program (Stay UP) - to help those disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing a college degree "Stay UP" and continue working towards goals of a college degree or beginning a non-profit ministry.  . 

 

Street Sheets - a free handout to print on your computer and give to homeless people in NYC, with information on various services available to them.
