Adult Learn to Read - The Stand UP Program
The first component of our Stand UP educational services, Learn to Read assists adults from letter recognition through pre-GED reading and writing skills. This one-on-one tutoring program allows adults to learn at their own pace, and is particularly appropriate for those with learning issues who find traditional classrooms difficult. Instruction is available for the complete non-reader up through those preparing for a GED, HS Diploma, or other educational goals.

Volunteer tutors are currently needed for this program at our service site in the Bronx (2525 Williamsbridge Rd, between Allerton and Mace). We will also need volunteers in our Bridgeport program beginning in January. Minimum commitment of one hour per week for three months required. Training is provided.
